Your Upper Cervical/Atlas Orthogonal Adjustment Process

As your upper cervical/Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor, Dr. Combs will never adjust you until he knows exactly how to correct your atlas, based upon information primarily gathered from your x-rays. Like the combination for a lock, the adjustments for each of our Waynesville patients are unique. It is highly unlikely any two are exactly alike.

Spinal Balance Test/Leg Check Analysis

Your posture will be analyzed while lying down. When an upper neck misalignment is present it is common to see an imbalance in the muscles along the spine.

Dr. Combs will also perform a manual, hands-on analysis of your neck. This helps him to gain a full and complete understanding of your personal adjustment needs.

Orthogonal X-ray Analysis

There is no guesswork done in our Waynesville office. Special attention is focused on structure, function and biomechanics of the upper neck. With accurate x-rays and measurements, spinal bones can be restored to a normal position.

Dr Combs demonstrates the use of the Atlas Orthogonal Adjustment on one of his Waynesville patients.

Atlas Orthogonal Adjustment

Once he has this information, Dr. Combs will place you on the adjustment table in an optimum position to receive the Atlas Orthogonal adjustment. He takes great care to assure that your head is exactly positioned on the adjustment table head support, based upon your specific adjustment needs as determined by your x-rays.

The adjustment is given utilizing an instrument, which precisely delivers a light percussion wave force (approximately 3 lbs) of very low intensity that does not pop, torque, or twist the head or neck in its delivery. The adjustment is so gentle that many patients are amazed at how comfortable the entire process is. After your adjustment is complete, you will rest for moment on the adjustment table to allow your adjustment to stabilize.

This is another method this office utilizes to detect areas of disturbance to the nervous system. This painless diagnostic tool also provides a way to monitor progress and determine when maximum results have been achieved.

Dr. Chad Asks some important questions of interest to Waynesville residents - Chiropractor Waynesville Dr. Chad Asks...

Could a chiropractor put an end to bedwetting?
If bladder control seems elusive, consider chiropractic. If spinal bones are interfering with nerves that control your child's bladder, plastic sheets, alarms and other methods simply add to the embarrassment. Waynesville parents are often amazed (and relieved) that chiropractic can be so helpful. Learn more.
Why are some people allergic to pollen and others aren't?
It's not the pollen. Chiropractors know that if it were, everyone would be allergic to pollen, nuts and pet dander. But that's not the case. It's the person, not the pollen! If you live in Waynesville and your stress levels are high, then each year the grass, the trees or the weeds put your nervous system over the top. Many report that chiropractic care helps reduce the frequency and severity of their allergic response.
