Our Technique

Atlas Orthogonal Technique/Upper Cervical Atlas Specific
Dr Combs applies precise adjustments using minimal physical pressure to a Waynesville area patient.

The atlas orthogonal precision instrument was designed to deliver a precise chiropractic adjustment based on the specific misalignment findings from your x-rays. Technically, the instrument delivers a mechanical impulse through a metal stylus by means of a pressure-controlled actuator. This impulse is approximately 3 pounds of pressure.

The stylus which is interfaced with the patient then applies a portion of the wave to the atlas (1st cervical vertebra) in order to make the appropriate adjustment. The instrument allows the doctor to adjust the atlas misalignment with a very high degree of precision while applying minimal physical pressure. This unique feature eliminates most patient discomfort during treatment and usually requires less adjusting overal thus saving time and money for the patient.

Dr. Chad Asks some important questions of interest to Waynesville residents - Chiropractor Waynesville Dr. Chad Asks...

Why are some people allergic to pollen and others aren't?
It's not the pollen. Chiropractors know that if it were, everyone would be allergic to pollen, nuts and pet dander. But that's not the case. It's the person, not the pollen! If you live in Waynesville and your stress levels are high, then each year the grass, the trees or the weeds put your nervous system over the top. Many report that chiropractic care helps reduce the frequency and severity of their allergic response.
Is a muscle spasm a cause or an effect?
With the knee-jerk use of muscle relaxers, you'd think it was a cause. But it's an effect. Chiropractors know that bones don't move unless muscles move them. And muscles don't contract unless commanded by the nervous system. That's why your nervous system is the focus of our Waynesville chiropractic practice.
